The first day (Friday August 20th), of course, was trying to drive as far as possible with 4 kids before they rioted. We did drive until late at night, found a hotel, and Aram decided he absolutely hates hotels and their breakfasts! :) The rest of us liked it.
Also the rule was to be: watch a 2 hr. movie then have 2 hrs off. Yeah, that lasted long! Will: "Movie time? Movie time!!" Anything to keep him quiet. Also the big plan was to have Will sleep long periods of time. That NEVER happened. But other than that the drives were uneventful.
So the 2nd morning(21st) we see we're 1/2 hr. from Christendom and Aram's old house in Front Royal, VA. It's out of the way, but he really wanted me to see it, so off we went. We found the house easily and saw how much the neighborhood has grown up and the bright red clay. I've never seen dirt like that! Then 5 min. down the road was Human Life International and Christendom College. It was the day the kids were coming back to school. We got out, walked around a little, and went to say hi to Jesus in their beautiful chapel. Then off we went to Monroe, NC to see my very good friend,Wendy, and her beautiful family. We ate dinner with them at a park before setting off to drive until 9 pm again. Of course I didn't get any pics taken with her. What a bummer.
We stayed the night in a better hotel in Florence,SC, not knowing my brother and his family were in the hotel next to us! The next morning was Sunday and the Tom Tom had a hard time finding Catholic churches in the Bible Belt. The hotel gave us directions and off we went. Let's just say everyone dresses up down there and the priest was on FIRE with his homily. All about abortion. You do not hear that up here!!! It was great and uplifting to hear that.
Then we made it to Myrtle Beach, SC by 2pm on Sunday August 22nd. Time for fun!
